Curriculum
 

GROUP GOALS

  • To increase the child's ability to protect self.
  • To assist the student in understanding reasons for behaviors.
  • To assist the student in learning new conflict resolution skills.
  • To aid the student in breaking the cycle of abuse in their own lives.
  • To raise self-esteem.
  • To aid the student in healing from the effects of any domestic abuse.
  • To provide a positive and safe environment.

THINGS CHILDREN NEED TO KNOW:

  • Children need to know that the abuse isn't their fault.
  • Children need to know it is not safe to try to stop a grown-up from hurting another  grown-up.
  • Children need permission to protect themselves by finding a safe place when violence happens.
  • Children need to be listened to and believed when they ask for help.
  • Children need to know that talking about abuse and asking for help is one way to stop the cycle.
  • Children need to keep telling if one adult does not believe them or is not able to help.
