The
goal of Life Skills is to help each individual increase
their capacity to control anger and violence, to increase
awareness of triggers that cause such actions, to
allow individual to function better in relationships
and, where possible, to offer hope of reconciliation.
As a result participants
find new understanding in their lives,
helping them to avoid the extreme actions and find
balance that helps them avoid repetition of their
initial offense.
All classes are monitored and strict adherence to
attendance policies and participation policies are
demanded as these help to increase trust and class
dynamics as well as hold the individuals accountable
to their classmates.
Class audits by any non-participants
is not allowed as it will disrupt class dynamics and
betray class trust and confidentiality. BUT, the Life
Skills curriculum, for the purpose of evaluating fitness
for a particular case, is open for review by official
judicial personnel.
Court ordered participants are held accountable to
boundaries and court ordered
disciplinary actions for non-compliance is HIGHLY encouraged.
Monthly reporting may
be made available upon request of judicial officers
and will be made to the any of the following officials
upon request:
- Corrections Officers
- Probation Officers
- Parole Officers
- Sentencing Judge (or other designated official)
Studies have shown a remarkable recidivism rate of
less than 6% for perpetrators that
